On our journey to Hamama falls and the water tunnel I was very excited, not only to learn about this place and the wai there, but also to taste the water and rinse off in the waterfall. I was happy about this field trip because it was right after Christmas Break, and I got to get out of school. I was a little nervous about falling in front of the class and the amount of mosquitoes there would be but I stayed on my feet and was able to leave Waiheʻe with minimal mosquito bites. Upon getting there we were split into two groups, so that half of us could go to the waterfall while the rest went into the tunnel. The hike to the waterfall was steep and it felt like it never ended but the end was definitely worth it, with the ice cold water to cool us off. When it was our turn to journey into the tunnel, the uncle talked to us a little about it. He said that the tunnel is dug 1500 feet into the mountain or roughly 5 football fields until they reached the dike and the water trapped within.
